Treatment Approaches & Clinical Interests

Sara’s therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and evidence-based care. She primarily integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), helping clients explore how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are shaped by life experiences. She also incorporates Play Therapy when working with children and adolescents, offering developmentally appropriate and emotionally attuned interventions.

Clinically, Sara has a strong interest in working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating emotional regulation, relational challenges, identity development, and trauma-related concerns. With additional training in neuropsychological assessment, she values the connection between cognitive functioning and mental health, and enjoys supporting clients in understanding how their minds work in relation to their emotional and behavioral experiences. Sara is passionate about creating a supportive, culturally responsive space where clients feel empowered to better understand themselves and build skills for greater emotional well-being and resilience.

Education & Experience

Sara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, followed by a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in children and adolescents from Azusa Pacific University. She later completed a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University, where she is currently a fourth-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology (Ph.D.) program.

Sara’s clinical training has spanned a variety of settings, including elementary schools, university counseling centers, and outpatient hospitals. She has experience in neuropsychological assessment and is trained in several therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), brief psychodynamic therapy, and Play Therapy.

Faith & Spirituality

Sara’s Christian faith plays an important role in shaping her perspective on personal growth, healing, and the human experience. She integrates values such as compassion, grace, and hope alongside clinical knowledge and evidence-based practices to support a holistic understanding of mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Sara recognizes the significance of faith, spirituality, and meaning-making in the lives of many clients, and is open to exploring these areas as part of the therapeutic process when desired by the client. Sara aims to create a compassionate, culturally attuned space where clients can reflect on their experiences, explore their values, and pursue growth in ways that resonate with their individual beliefs and life journeys.
